If I break out into a chorus of "I Enjoy Being a Girl", please shoot me.

For whatever reason, call it my own brand of anarchy, call it boredom, I started doing girly things.

Like, agreeing to buy PRODUCT from my hairdresser. Those of you who know me well, know that I don't do that. I cut my hair short, specifically so all I have to do is wash and go - not even blow dry. But somehow, I ended up buying hair gel last Saturday. Not only that, I've agreed to try highlights next time I go.

I could have chalked it up to an aberration, except for what happened yesterday. I saw on the work calendar that one of my coworkers planned on a pedicure today. I made an offhand remark - basically to the effect of "gee, I should do that before I go to Mayhem so I can wear my (not girly) sandals and not have ugly toenails" and another coworker piped up. "Hey, let's go at lunch!" Instead of making excuses, I found myself saying, "Sure!"

So I did.

I had my first pedicure and I now have perfectly manicured, blood red toenails. The interesting part is that it was awesome! I've always been wary of this, because really, feet touching without it being part of a medical exam or well, intimate was really weird to me. Instead of being bizarre or feeling embarrassed, I felt pampered. I think I really needed that.

Next thing you know, I'll be wearing a skirt, on purpose, and without having to--no, wait, there is no need to go *that* far! Let's face it, the girly genes only go so far. I think I'll leave the rest of the girly stuff to Nan. ::g::

I do still have my geek creds though, as evidenced by my results on the "Which Heroes Character Are You" quiz. A hint: He's got Daddy issues and, like me, thinks swords are nifty.

Hahaha! I just posted about this! And I know exactly what you mean. It's still not the most comfortable thing for me but nice looking toes are worth it!

Hee! I'm so with you about not being very girly. Two weeks in a row, after Monday, I'll have worn a dress. That's just ultra weird for me. All these kids graduating. Hmph!

I love pedicures. I always feel so pampered after I have one. I went to one salon where they screwed up the appointment times and I had a simultaneous manicure and pedicure.I didn't know which sensation to focus on (and i felt a bit like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz)

I regularly get manicures, because it makes me feel so glamorous, at least from the nail perspective.

I'm funny about having my feet touched, so I absolutely have to feel 100% comfortable with the person giving the pedicure. And due to my special feet/leg issues, they can't use anything sharp on me and need to be very careful. I had my first pedicure here in California back in April -- took me over three years to trust my regular person.

But yes, a pedicure makes one feel so pampered and privileged. Warning though, they are addictive!

My stepmom treated me to my first-ever pedicure when I was recently in Florida. I was leery for the same reasons you mentioned.

Frankly, I could do without the foot-part in the future, but the leg treatments/massage were out of this world. I nearly melted into the chair.
