A mini-McRanty Pants about Freecycle )

That said... today, I am off to the wilds of Fells Point, (former home of Homicide: Life on the Streets) for the annual Sisters in Crime holiday bash at Mystery Loves Company bookstore.

How, you ask, seeing as how Big Red is still at the hospital for injured vehicles?

Thanks to the auspices of Dash bus, Metro and the incomparable [livejournal.com profile] beledibabe who is carting me the balance of the way from Glenmont Metro, I will be able to join in the festivities. She is totally my hero.

My buddy and fellow author Dana Cameron will be in attendance (having come in from Boston) as will a variety of other authorly types including Donna Andrews, Marcia Talley and Nora Charles. Dana is transporting Chris Golden's latest Ghosts of Albion book for me - as Chris, Dana and a slew of other authors were at Kate's Mystery Books in Boston last night for a holiday bash there. I'd emailed Chris and Kate, requesting an inscribed copy and Kate was so kind as to ask Dana to bring it to me so I didn't have to pay for shipping. Yay for indy booksellers!!

It is FREAKING cold here - 21 degrees when I got up, with a slated high of 45. Not so bad if you're in a car, but not fun if you're standing outside waiting for the bus. I've got the schedule, so as to not pre-anticipate, nor miss the bus I need to take to make it to Glenmont on time. I also have my new winter coat, hat and gloves b/c I am a freak and in the 6.5 years I've live here, I hadn't bought a real winter coat. Leftover stubbornness from Texas, I think - the refusal to pay good money for something used once in a blue moon. But, my body insists that shivering in my fleece jacket for several weeks at a time is really just stupid, so damn it. BUY the damned coat. So I did.

Am still trying to catch up on shows. Finally saw Heroes, and Veronica Mars, since my stupid recording thing mislabeled the shows and I thought oh noes, repeats, and deleted them. :(

Watched Supernatural last night and also discovered that the show is now being sold on iTunes - yippee!! - Now I can buy it there and watch a high-res version, instead of the one I record from my TV Tuner thing.

Can I just say I hate these mid-season hiatuses hiati breaks. Losing momentum, to me, is a Bad Thing. As a writer, it makes me insane, b/c losing momentum in a book means death knell. I know TV is different, but still.

In any case, happy Saturday to all.
