You know - I so don't remember these books at all well. What I do remember, is I read LoTR first - then at some point, picked up the Narnia books. I remember not enjoying Narnia as much as LoTR. (this was sometime in early HS)
For equivalent YA books - I vastly prefer the Susan Cooper Dark is Rising series.
