First, Narnia - it's pretty and prettily done.

That said, I agree with [livejournal.com profile] beledibabe's assessment. Just a bit too heavy-handed with the allegory.

Evidently, in Narnia, battles are bloodless. No one dies (really) and all the creatures must have sprung from magic, because honestly, no one has genitals...or secondary sex traits.

The female centaurs - never see any *hint* of boobs. Same for the Ice Queen...ehr, White Witch. Her costumes were fascinating, but engineered to remove all gender identification - other than dress=female.

The male centaurs and horses fared worse. A white stallion ridden by Peter rears up at one point, his genital area is blacked out. WTF?

The whole thing was a bit too sanitary for me. No real tension. No feeling of impending doom/loss.

'Twas an enjoyable evening with C, but I don't think I'll go see the movie again.

Now, onto the subject of my subject line.

Evidently, we in the D.C./Baltimore area will *not* be standing in line for Brokeback Mountain, because it's not opening here this weekend. GRRR bloody arrgh.

This I do not get. Are we not a major metropolitan area? Again with the WTF?

I've not yet discovered when we are getting it. There was a poster at Mazza Gallerie, where we saw the Narnia movie, so evidently it is going to show here, but no idea when.

DAMNITALL.

If I could afford it, I'd be heading NYC way. Seriously.

Oh, and GIP to me. I made this using one of the lovely screencaps provided by [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis - I thank you kindly.

C - I'll make you one tomorrow.

ETA:

Here you go. This is for [livejournal.com profile] beledibabe

Now I'm off to bed without promises of a great movie ahead. :(

Thanks for icon love!! I'm learning more and more about Photoshop Elements and having fun.

Re: Cowboys - from what we can gather (I have sources calling sources) - the 12/9 release was limited to 3 cities.

The more general release is next weekend...when I'm supposed to drive to NJ to visit Dina. GRRRR.
