In celebration of the rebirth of my BLOOD LINES series and the continued success of all our Juno authors, several of us have banded together to offer free books.

The catch?

The contest is the Juno version of Jeopardy!(TM) - We'll give you the answer, you give us the questions. All the answers can be found either on the
Juno Books site, Juno Books twitter account or Juno editor Paula Guran's Facebook account...or, within our books. :)

Persons with the most correct answers will win FREE BOOKS!!!! (In case of ties, we'll use the random number generator)

The contest will be open until August 30, 2009, after which we'll count up the winners and notify you via email.

LET THE GAME BEGIN!!

1. In Maria Lima's Blood Lines universe, the town of Rio Seco was so small, it not only didn't have a Dairy Queen, it didn't have this.

2. In a quote from Lori Devoti's Amazon Ink, "She will not hurt the little bunny. Just give him what?"

3. In Linda Robertson's Vicious Circle, the damn wærewolves dumped these kind of boxes on the lawn.

4. Stacia Kane's protagonist in Personal Demons and Demon Inside is named:

A: Mary Chase

B: Mary Pacey

C: Megan Chase

D: Elaine Robinson

5. Carole Nelson Douglas' basic recipe for the cocktail Brimstone Kiss, contains:

-- 2 jiggers Inferno Pepper Pot vodka

-- 1 jigger DeKuyper "Hot Damn!" Hot Cinnamon Schnapps

-- 2 jiggers Alize Red Passion

The added ingredient for version 2 of the drink is this bubbly favorite.

6. Juno Books, originally an imprint of  independent press Prime Books/Wildside Press, is now an imprint of this company, a division of Simon & Schuster.

7. Juno Books publishes fantasies featuring a strong female protagonist set in a contemporary (or a very few years in the future) world quite like ours except for the intersection/transgression of the numinous (that which is "wholly other") with/upon the mundane. This type of books is commonly called this type of fantasy.

Good luck!!!

Thanks to the random number generator, the winner of IN THE HUNT is......[livejournal.com profile] hyperfocused!

Please e-me with your mailing addy (I think I have it, but just to be safe...)

Thanks all for entering. In April, I'll be guest blogging at Lori Devoti's blog and giving away a set of my first 2 books. I'll announce it here, closer to the date.

Other things of the win:
-- yesterday, I had my first massage. Although the knots in my neck/shoulder are too tough for one session, I felt so much better afterwards. Am so doing this again. The therapist, a lovely British woman by the name of Lulu, had amazing hands. Strong.

Of the fail:
Snow. Sleet. More snow today. This after Thursday's lovely warm spring temps. Damn. I'm hoping the predictions for 4-8" accumulation are just wrong. :(

Today, I must sequester myself and write. So I'll catch you all on the flip side!

ETA: D'oh, would help to enter *where* I would be guest blogging! Done.

A contest!
For whom?
For you!

Do you love Supernatural? Jared? Jensen? Sam'n'Dean? Metallicar?

Then you're in the right place.

Yours truly (that would be moi) will give away one (1) free (gratis!) copy of the brand new, just-on-the-shelves anthology In The Hunt: Unauthorized Essays on Supernatural.

Why? Because (a) it's a fabulous anthology with (b) fantastic authors and (c) I have an essay in it (Another Roadside Attraction, page 237). (Yes, I will totally sign the book...or not, whichever the winner prefers)

The winner will be chosen totally at random from anyone who comments to this blog post answering the following questions: (I promise, there are no wrong answers!)

(A) In the last 3.5 seasons, what would you choose as your favorite episode and why (in 50 words or less).

(B) If you could create a new character in the Supernatural 'verse and (assuming you were an actor), play him/her on TV, who would the character be? Name, occupation and what role does this person play in the 'verse.

(C) What fabulous '80s song, blues song, jazz song, any song has *not* yet been part of the Supernatural soundtrack but utterly belongs there? (tell me the song title and artist)

(D) Dean? Sam? John? Someone else?

RULES: (yes, we have to have them)

(1) you must tell me who you are (be logged in to LJ, openID or, if you don't have an account, leave at least your first name and last initial in the post - so if you win, I can say Jane D or superfan, you've won!!

(2) You must answer all 4 questions.
[/end rules]

I will ship anywhere that can receive physical mail. Yes, that means outside the US and Canada. If you're waaaaaay far away from me, I may choose a slower postal service because, despite the impression that writers make tons of money, I am not rich. ::g::

So, answer away. Feel free to pimp this contest to all and sundry.

Contest closes at midnight (duh!) February 28, 2009.
All results are final.
No robots need apply.

Happy May Day all! It's raining and chilly here, so not so much with the "ooh, spring weather" but much with the drearies. Oh well, can't have it all, I suppose. ::g:: Not really sure how it got to be May as life has seemed so accelerated lately.

The meme/contest (sort of). I came back from Malice with a bunch of the teaser samplers. They contain the first 3 chapters of my upcoming book, Blood Bargain, plus the first 3 of Carole Nelson Douglas' new one, Brimstone Kiss. In the spirit of book pimps everywhere, I thought I'd do a contest. I couldn't really think of anything clever, so instead, I'm going to participate in the question meme that is going around and will send samplers to those of you that submit questions that amuse me. ::g::

Here you go:

If you would be so kind, ask me the seven questions below. Just copy and paste them into a comment, replace the blanks with anything you want--personal, silly, surreal (e.g. 3. Donkeys or sandcastles and why?), or deep--and I'll answer honestly as I can! Then post this in your own LJ and see what kind of things people want to ask you!

1. What do you think of _____________ ?
2. When did you last ____________?
3. __________ or ___________ and why?
4. What did you ______________?
5. What's your favorite ______________?
6. How would you ______________?
7. Who would you most like to ________ ?

Over at [livejournal.com profile] fangs_fur_fey, check out the Thursday interview with Melissa Marr ([livejournal.com profile] melissa_writing.

Cheers!
