First off, let me wish my wonderful mom a fabulous birthday - even though she refuses to celebrate! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!!!

Secondly, best news from other authors: [livejournal.com profile] matociquala and [livejournal.com profile] truepenny announced a deal for TWO sequels to A Companion to Wolves. w00t!!!!

I pimped that book out as much as I am pimping Bear's Promethean series (in case you're newish to this blog, for me, pimping a book/series means I tend to buy several copies of the first book and hand them to friends/family to read).

Happy Wednesday all!

Wishing the absolutely most fabulous of birthdays to two of the finest people ever.

First: to sister-of-the-heart and amazing crit-pal [livejournal.com profile] beledibabe . May today bring you joy, brilliance and everything you wish for.

Secondly: to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] misspamela, whose prose and posts amuse me, entertain me and sometimes, just help keep me sane. May your day be as fabulous as you are.

Smooches and hugs to the both of you!!

Book pimping:
My buddy Cita Powers just published her first gay romance: Desperation Dancing via Lyrical Press. I helped beta versions of this and recommend it. The book just debuted yesterday and comes in all e-reader flavors, including Sony, Kindle, HTML and PDF.

Now, it's off to the day job in the rain-turning-to-ice (EEP!)

A VERY happy birthday and best wishes for a fabulous day to two of the best and most brilliant women I know:

[livejournal.com profile] shayheyred - quirky, fun, full of the *best* kind of snark and always such a hoot to be around

and

[livejournal.com profile] reginagiraffe - quirky, fun, full of the *best* kind of snark and always such a hoot to be around...oh wait, I said that already - but it's TRUE.

I love you both loads and am sad we see so little of each other.

Have a WONDERFUL day, darlings!

The fannish fun continues. I got home tonight to a package waiting for me. The package was from my wonderful cousins and co-owners of Mysterious Galaxy, Maryelizabeth Hart ([livejournal.com profile] allaboutm_e) and her darling hubby, Jeff Mariotte.

In the envelope:

A ginormous Tyvek CW tote bag from Comic-Con 2008--one side touting our boys from Supernatural, the other touting Smallville.

Inside the bag, 2 Middleman pins.

Photos below the cut )

Need I say I totally, utterly squeed?

I LOVE being a fangrrrl!!!

Again, thanks so much, cuz!

ETA: Oh yeah, I got my Season 3 Supernatural DVDs, too. So Yay again!

Work has been a bit hectic these days so I'm way, way behind on the more social stuff - like posting, reading LJ and such.

But, the mood struck me last night to post a variety of links of interest as I go through my RSS feeds. [sidebar: alsdkadjfladkjf stupid eljay posting interface didn't update the post like I wanted; then, when I edited and fixed, kept reverting back to the original post. ARRRGH. So I've had to reconstruct.]

Linkspam:

Some people are just plain assholes award

Gene Hunt: vampire?

Henry Jenkins: behind the glass - discussion of slash and a cool [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings vid.

John Scalzi's new gig.

[livejournal.com profile] fangs_fur_fey have some lovely stuff going on, from interviews to the fascinating Monday topic-of-the-week post.

Sidebar 2:
Note to [livejournal.com profile] hyperfocused, and [livejournal.com profile] cereta who played the question meme with me. If you want a copy of the teaser sampler for Blood Bargain, e-me (mylima AT Gmail dot com). Send me mailing info and I'll get it out to you. :)

If anyone else still wants to play - feel free - the post is here. I've got a bunch of the teaser books so come on and play!

Last but not at all least, a VERY happy birthday to

[livejournal.com profile] resonant8
[livejournal.com profile] ekaterinn
[livejournal.com profile] raveninthewind

Hope your respective days were extremely special!

Sigh, I had this lovely paragraph written about how my inconvenient and annoying insomnia last night led to me being really productive on the day job front (e.g., allowing me to catch up on some mundane, tedious, yet extremely necessary tasks...say, somewhere around midnight). But the stupid eljay interface ate it all. Both versions. So the short version: Couldn't sleep. Got up. Worked. Back to bed. Slept.

TGIF to all and I sure hope I can wake up!! ::g:: (the groggy me is not to be trifled with!)
chickwriter: (Birthday - Paul)
...to wish the ever awesome [livejournal.com profile] theamusedone a very happy birthday!!

May your day be fabulous and fantastic.
chickwriter: (Liberty)
First off, the very happiest of birthday wishes to the always lovely and wonderfully talented [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel! May the celebration of your day be as fabulous as you are.

I've been watching New Amsterdam. and am liking it well enough. The premise is fairly interesting, though a bit Highlander meets Nick Knight, but no matter. The leads, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Zukeikha Robinson are both lovely and I enjoy them both immensely. I'm liking some of the plot twists, but am not quite as sold on the so-called "the one". Don't really see the chemistry between them. Love Omar, though.

John Adams has been quite interesting - caught up on the first two episodes via On Demand. I didn't think Paul Giamatti had it in him, but I was quite pleasantly proven wrong. He, and the other cast members, are doing a bang up job. (Thanks to the show, I've got a new icon, too. ::trots it out::)

I'm so glad it's Friday! The week went by too fast, mostly because there's been a great deal of work and stuff going on. I'm banging out the last bits of Blood Bargain and hope to have the final into Mme Editrix's hands in the next week and a half. WHEW!

Today's Tor freebie is one of my favorite's - Tobias Buckell's Crystal Rain. I first heard of this book some time ago and then, when visiting San Diego for ConDor, was convinced to buy the hardcover by my favorite book pusher, Mysterious Galaxy's Patrick Heffernan. He said I'd love it and he was absolutely spot on. If you haven't signed up at Tor, it's not too late. (The freebies are in PDF format, and easily viewable in an eReader).

Hope everyone has an amazing Friday!
chickwriter: (O Canada)
Before it's too late and it's no longer this date:

They have called this day The Eleventh of March! And whom-so-ever of you gets through this day, unless you are shot in the head or somehow slain...you will stand at tiptoe...when e'er you hear the name again, and you will get excited!...At the name March The Eleventh!

We happy few, we few, we band of brothers...our names will be as like...household names. And those who are not here, be they sleeping or… doing something else...They will feel themselves...sort of crappy. Because they are not here to...to join the fight. On this day, the Eleventh of March!
-- Buck Frobisher

Happy Birthday to [personal profile] beledibabe's wonderful hubby, A, who evidently shares a birthday with Mr. John Barrowman. (41 for JB, not 41 for A ::g::)

Tonight was our first night at the shallow water aerobics class. Only four people, counting JM and I, but loads of fun. I'm way sore and am going to sleep well tonight.

I'll be guest blogging on Friday (14th of March) at Jaye Wells' blog. Come by, comment and you may be one of the lucky winners of a copy of Matters of the Blood.

Sometime in April (date TBD), I'll be guest blogging at Femmes Fatale. I'll let you all know when I know.

I'm nearly to the end of Season 7 of SG1, in my marathon, let's watch everything since I have the box set viewing. Watching Inauguration - written by Mallozi and Mullie. It's a clip show. Can I just say that I dislike clip shows immensely? I have rarely, if ever, seen one that worked to actually advance a story arc. YMMV. (I'm also happy to change my opinion if someone can point one out to me that wasn't just filler).

I am finding it extremely amusing just *how* many actors I recognize as having seen them on SGA, BSG, Highlander, X-Files, [insert show filmed in Vancouver here].

I'm off to grab something to eat and then finish DVD viewing.

Seriously, this show can't get any better this series.

I went back to work today, still recuperating from the Office Death Plague. One good thing about being sick: I totally missed the ice nastiness last night. One bad thing (other than feeling like warmed-over death: I totally spaced that yesterday was Tuesday...and primary Tuesday. Damn. :(

ETA: And a happy happy birthday to the wonderful [profile] ardent_muses! Hope it's been wonderful, sweetie!
